Alexandre Miloski

Alexandre Miloski

Investment Research
Alexandre Miloski is a member of the investment team at L1 Digital AG focused on investment research. Previously, he worked as a data engineer at VELT Partners, one of Brazil’s largest equity funds, where he helped structure a data department with the mission of leveraging worldwide data to better inform investment decisions. In parallel, he worked at Block0 part-time as an investor sourcing early-stage opportunities within the digital asset ecosystem.

As a computer scientist deeply interested in technological breakthroughs, he has been researching blockchain technology independently since the beginning of 2017.

He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

Johannes Kern

Johannes Kern has a proven track-record bridging technology and business. At L1 Digital, he is responsible for anything digital, involved in blockchain research and working with investors to put digital assets on the map. Before joining L1 Digital, he was with Swisscom Blockchain where he was working as a consultant in the tokenization and blockchain advisory helping companies create business cases leveraging blockchain and distributed ledger technologies.

He has founded and scaled Europe’s largest network for early-stage start-ups, cofoundme.org.

Johannes holds a Master of Arts in Business Management from the University of St. Gallen with additional studies at Stellenbosch University in South Africa and Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Chile.

 

Ray Hindi

CEO / CIO

Ray Hindi most recently acted as the CIO of Bellegarde Capital AG an independent investment group with activities focused in fintech, blockchain and other alternative investments. He was previously at Swiss Capital (StepStone Group) responsible for the firm’s macro outlook, macro hedge funds and event driven coverage. From 2005 to 2011 Ray was part of Harcourt Investment Consulting AG, a USD 6 bn fund of hedge funds firm in Zurich, and responsible for USD 2 bn of investments (rates, macro and distressed). He started his career at Bloomberg LP in London and subsequently left the firm to trade interest rates for a London based proprietary group.

Ray holds a BEng from University College London (UCL) and an MSc in Finance from Imperial College.
Since 2015 Ray has developed extensive knowledge in the blockchain industry. This together with two decades of investment research, portfolio construction and portfolio management equip him well to lead the investment front at L1D.

 

Neil Schwam

Neil Schwam, CAIA

Head of Operations

Neil Schwam brings over 20 years of experience in Risk Management, Operational Strategy and Technology management within asset management, technology management & services, and media. Neil has led the Operational Due Diligence teams at Harcourt Investment Consulting AG, served as COO of multi-family RIAs, and managed launches of alternative asset managers. His current focus is on Due Diligence and Risk Management related to Privacy and Cyber security across all regulated sectors and alternative asset managers, and on the creation and management of risk management programs with an emphasis on operationalizing risk into operations planning and management. Neil holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation.

 

Julien Godat, CFA

Head of Business Development

Julien Godat has extensive experience in portfolio management and business development. He was previously responsible for Vontobel’s institutional client relations in French speaking Switzerland. Until 2016 he headed up the institutional investor business for Vescore AG in Romandie and prior to that held a similar role at Notenstein Laroche Private Bank. Julien started his financial career in 2005 at Harcourt Investment Consulting as a portfolio manager of Funds of Hedge Funds. Julien holds a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Mathematical Engineering, both from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), and is also a CFA charterholder.

 

Dr. Philipp Cottier

Dr. Philipp Cottier

Chairman

Dr. Philipp Cottier is a Swiss entrepreneur and a highly regarded expert in the fintech, hedge fund and impact investment industries. Philipp is an active investor in blockchain and fintech startups, hedge funds, and emerging markets private equity. He most recently was part of the executive management and head of private equity investments at responsAbility Investments a USD 3 bn impact investment firm. From 1998 to 2009 Philipp was a major shareholder and acted as the CEO of Harcourt Investment Consulting AG, an alternative manager with USD 6 bn of AUM that was successfully exited to the Vontobel Group. Philipp is a board member at Crypto Finance AG, Crypto Fund AG, Crypto Storage AG, SPK, Siglo Capital Advisors and previously Vontobel. He acts as the Chairman of Bellegarde Capital his family office and is an active philanthropist through the Cottier Donzé Foundation dedicated to girl empowerment. Philipp holds two master’s degrees and a PhD in finance from University of St. Gallen.

Philipp leads the business development front, including strategic development, contracts with partners and JVs, and legal, and is also a member of the investment committee. Through his involvement in the fintech industry for many years, Philipp became highly interested in blockchain technology early on, and has since developed extensive knowledge in the space

 

Claus Hilpold, CFA, CAIA

Senior Advisor

Claus Hilpold is a seasoned business development professional. In 2008 he founded Polaris in Zurich, a successful distribution business serving institutional clients across Europe. Claus was formerly Head Business Development for Germany and Austria at Harcourt Investment Consulting AG, and prior to that part of Derivatives and Structuring team at Commerzbank. Claus is a CFA and CAIA charterholder and has co-authored two books on alternative investments.

Claus leads the marketing side, and through Polaris supports the distribution and sales efforts in Europe. He is responsible for the distribution and marketing strategy.

 

Armand van Houten

Chief Operating Officer

Armand van Houten is a seasoned operations professional with extensive experience in middle office and due diligence. He is the founder of fund restructuring firm Stratus Asset Management Consulting AG and an advisor to Crypto Fund in Zug. Armand was previously Head Alternative Products & Risk at Vontobel Asset Management and prior to that Head of Risk and Operational Due Diligence at Harcourt Investment Consulting AG. Armand is a CAIA charterholder.

Armand has set up the operational and back-office side, including operational due diligence, legal set up, risk management, client reporting, and is a member of the investment committee.

If you decide to end your client relationship, L1D will mark your account in L1D’s database as „Closed “ but will keep your account information in L1D’s database for a period of time as allowed by applicable law.
